Fetal Movements

  1. If it is your first pregnancy you should start to feel baby movements from 20 to 24 weeks of pregnancy.

  2. If it is your second or subsequent pregnancy, you may feel your baby move from about 16 to 20 weeks.

  3. A baby’s movements can be described as anything from a kick, flutter, swish or roll.

  4. From 28 weeks your baby will form a pattern of movements. Get to know your baby’s normal pattern of movements.

  5. This pattern of movements should continue throughout your pregnancy and labour.

  6. If you ever notice a change in your baby’s pattern of movement:

    • Sit or lie down

    • Take a cold drink

    • And concentrate on your baby’s movements
